Improving Hoardings

Leicester Square hoarding

Empty units and buildings waiting for development approval can become eyesores and crime hotspots.  Through close liaison with the major property owners in the Heart of London area and Westminster planning department, we can secure the necessary permission to improve the sites.  By designing and installing hoardings and building shrouds on the empty units they become less of an eyesore, reducing the negative urban blight that these empty units can bring on an area.  We have also used this as an opportunity to promote London’s West End entertainment.

From 2008-2010, we have implemented hoardings in:

  • Panton Street (Broadmead House, former Pizza Hut)
  • Piccadilly Circus (around Eros over the Christmas period in 2008 and 2009, plus for 2010 Route 38 Street Works)
  • Leicester Square (the former 'Your Square, Your Choice' redevelopment notice)
  • Orange Street (for two neglected areas; one at the back of the National gallery between Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square plus one other rear exit)

We are currently working on a further design in Whitcomb Street (for the former Hand & Racket pub)
