Hand held signs, sandwich boards, advertising placards and notices have for a long time been an obstruction for the thousands of pedestrians using our busy streets.  We therefore welcomed new legislation that enabled Westminster City Council to remove these boards, which came into force in August 2008.

The Act regulated the use of “Portable Advertisements” to six designated areas of the City of Westminster.  Heart of London gave evidence to support the introduction of this legislation as we believed it would help improve the trading and visitor environment to reflect our world-class leisure and business status.
