Plans have been approved by WCC to develop a new iconic Swiss Centre on Leicester Square. Developers McAleer & Rushe are to demolish the existing building and replace it with a contemporary 10 storey mixed-use scheme. The redevelopment will include a 5 star luxury hotel with194 rooms, a flagship ground floor retails outlet, basement casino and 11 exclusive residential apartments.

Designed by architects Jestico & Whiles, the new building's exterior will be covered by a frosted, translucent veil etched with abstract patterns. As night falls, a faint tinted light, the intensity and colour of which can be tuned according to occasion, will provide a dynamic focus visible from Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square.
